Dear Alli,

This week is certainly not going as well as I had hoped that it would since Monday night. Before the meeting tonight, I'm taking a few moments to myself to quickly get settled and write up an incident that happened earlier this evening.

I thought it was wonderful, being in the tavern, hoping to be visited by either friends or interested persons in the guild, and indeed, Erik stopped in. He was injured, though quite tried to ignore it himself and to fool me into believing he was all right.  But I persisted, which I suppose was my downfall.  I was too persistent and overzealous to help out.

I gathered some ice and at first, forced it upon his eye that was swollen, not being able to help myself.  He kept scratching and rubbing at it, which was only going to make it worse.  As soon as I sat myself back down though, he took the ice away.  I sort of gave up after that, figuring he would just have to take care of himself and if that meant dealing with the swelling and pain for a few more days than one would have to (given that one used ice on the eye), it was his own choice.

But the one area that I would not step down upon was the information on where the bandits were located.  And he denied me.  He claimed to be able to handle it all on his own and that he would bring me their heads the next day.  I said it was not acceptable.  We knew nothing of these bandits and killing them was not a way to solve the problem.

It seems he did not agree with me.

He stood up then, said that this just wasn’t the life for him and passed me back his welcome letter.  Seems such a shame that killing is the only solution he could see.  It is sad to see him go, but perhaps he will learn form this incident, and if not, I will pray for the souls he takes without considering mercy first.

By My Hand,
